We have received a cheque for £5000 for the Trust from a gentleman in memory of the untimely death of his wife and the even more untimely death of his daughter's schoolfriend Elizabeth Hall.

On Sunday 9th November, Linda Dillon who is a Trustee of the Charity, held her 60th birthday party. Linda told all her guests that instead of presents she would like donations to the Trust and raised a fantastic £1,000! It was an evening of fun and entertainment with hysterical recitals, live music and a great raffle and excellent food. Old friends and family gathered together and had a thoroughly good time so we all look forward to her 70th!! I would like to thank Linda, who has been my friend for nearly fifty years, very much indeed.

Setting up the Trust in Elizabeth's memory was a bit of a life line for me. Losing a child is the most terrible experience and although she was a grown up she was still my little girl. I think of her a million times a day and still cry buckets for her. I wanted some permanent memorial for Liz and finally achieved this in 2006 when The Elizabeth Hall Centre took its first patients.

The Trust now helps individuals and we will continue to raise money in order to do this. The patients we help are all different ages and the requests differ greatly. We recently funded a sports wheelchair and hoist for a young man who had had to have his leg amputated because of cancer. Another recent request was to fund a carer for a lady with advanced dementia whilst her husband had treatment for his cancer.

The Trust invites applications for help through doctors, Macmillan nurses and hospices so if you need help, please get a medic to contact us.

The launch of Elizabeth’s Trust website marks an important development for the Trust and its work. It’s anticipated that it will quickly become the first point of access and information for supporters and beneficiaries of the Trust. Visitors to the site can read about the aims and work of Elizabeth’s Trust; the facilities and approach of the Wessex Ward and Basing Unit (the in and outpatientunits within the Centre) and find out about recent and forthcoming fundraising activity and events.
